2000 grand prix gt - sound like a good deal?

First off hello everyone. It's good to be apart of these forums.

Well tomorrow I'm possibly going to be the proud new owner a dark green 2000 grand prix gt. This'll be my second vehicle and my first Pontiac. With that being said I've never messed with a 3.8l v6 and therefore know nothing about them. So how reliable are these engines? How long do they last? What about the automatic 4 speed tranny that comes with these things?

Help a poor newb out. Tell me the in's and out's and known issues. I'm going to go over it with a fine-toothed comb tomorrow before I buy it and I want to know what to keep an eye out for.

Here is the car by the way if anyone cares to take a look.

The main things that go out on these is the transmissions. Try to get them to 3000 or whatever the KBB is.

Just watch for transmisson slipping durring acceleration or shifting. Usually there ok at 100000 miles. Other normal stuff includes valve cover gaskets tend to leek ect ect.

Welcome to the community!!

Welcome to the forums! That looks to be a very clean GT. all your questions can be answered by looking through the site.

thy are very reliable!

Thanks guys! Ok, so keep an eye out on the transmission. Well when I took it for a test run it didn't slip and shifted fine, so I guess it was very nicely taken care of.

I can't wait to do some tasteful appearance mods here soon.

Welcome to the forum. Happy to have you here. Looks like a nice GP. Like you said, just go over it real good and any small thing you see wrong, male them drop the price.
