Hello there this is my first post here, nice forum :)
I recently purchased a 2000 Grand Prix GT and am looking to switch out the stock radio with a new one. The one I am looking at is the Sony Xplod CDX-GT240 here is a link: CDX-GT240 | Xplōd

My question is will this unit be compatible with my car? Here is the installation instructions: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/CDXGT240_connection.pdf

I have pictures of the stock radio but for some reason I cannot post them...?
I guess I have to post more or something

So if anyone could help me out and let me know what they think and if this will work in my car please feel free to post away, it will be very much appreciated :th_thumbsup-wink:

And by the second part the adaptor to fit the hole I believe he means the radio antenna adaptor along with the harness for power and speakers and what not

welcome to the forums, yes it will fit with a dash kit, radio harness, and antenna adapter, same goes for most aftermarket single DIN radios

it'll blow up.

Like an atom bomb.

Most mounting kits look fugly.

Humount.com has the pretty ones, but they're stupidly expensive.

Well I contacted Humount (thanks for the link Matt) and they said that their Grand Prix mount would work with the CDX-GT240 so here is the setup I will have
This receiver:

And this mounting kit except mine will also have GT on the end:

Do you know what wiring harness I will need to connect the stereo to the car? Humount said I would need one
Thanks again all, I really appreciate it

it should come with your reciever if you buy it from crutchfield.

If not, any store that carries audio stuff like walmart will be able to get you the right one.

Should be cheap too, say $10.

Yeah I was looking at one at crutchfield but you said that they look fugly....
Do the ones that crutchfield supplies with their units look alright?
I was looking at a more expensive but similar looking sony at that site that came with the correct wiring harness and mounting kit, here is a link: Sony CDX-GT440U CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

You think that unit with the mounting gear that it comes with would look alright?
