Guys,
I'm new here and hoping your expertise and experience will help. My 2000 GT with the 3.8L has a weird problem. Every day I drive the car to work, about 40 miles. For the last six months I have had a strange problem. I will take off with no problems, about 4 miles down the road the engine will shudder. Its like a miss and when it happens I lose the tach, but nothing else. The engine runs perfect the rest of the way. If I stop and cut the engine off and restart, the tach will come back and everything is fine. This happens every time I drive and at almost exactly the same time. The last time out it got worse. I started home and about 4 miles down the road it does the miss thing, only this time it kills the engine as well as the tach. I pull over to the road side, restart and everything is fine. Tach is back and drive the rest of the way home with no problem. It always does it about 4 or 5 miles in, and will not repeat even if you drive 200 miles. I only notice it the first startup in the morning or afternoon.
Any ideas?
