New member here. I have a 2000 Grand Prix Coupe and the seat backs, both driver and passenger seat back will not lock 99% of the time. I checked on parts and the seat side
adjuster is discontinued. I was told that there is a pendulum inside the mechanism that locks the seat under extreme braking dive. I have checked the salvage yards and most of the salvage cars (coupes) had the same problem and do not latch.
I have been able once or twice to get the upper seat back to partially latch if pulled forward quickly.
Has anyone tried to repair this part and please describe your fix? Does the side release handle have some bearing on the seat back lock/recliner?
