2000 dies while driving?

i have a 2000 gtp that dies randomly, it did it a few times and when i put it in nuetral to push it to the side of the road it will always restart but the traction control off light is on and cant be turned back on. i realy didn't get a chance to troubleshoot it untill the other day, the fuel pump is working and has good pressure, i checked as many connections as i could without lifting the car and everything seemed fine, checked for spark and there was none. swapped in new relays and still no fire. the thing that has me baffled is i out of the blue tried to put it in nutral and move it a bit and try it, it fired right up! tcs off light on but it ran. im confused as to what could be causing this. any advice?

the tach has never dropped to 0 when driving other than when it dies. im kinda new to these cars, im a heavy equipment mechanic so not sure what the icm is? if it was a cummins i would know exactly what it was lol.

ignition control module, its underneath the coil packs, the coil packs are the things the sparg plug wires connect to on the left side lookin under hood. next to battery:th_thumbsup-wink:

i'm with bio. my 2000 did exactly the same thing when i got it. took it back to the dealer they said they couldnt get it to die so i went an picked it up. made it not even halfway home an it died perfectly for me on a nice main road. made the dealer pay to have it towed back and to fix the prob and told them if they didnt get it fixed we were getting our money back an leaving the car with them. they quickly proceeded to replace the crank pos sensor because my dad whose a mechanic of 20 some years told them that was the prob an voila fixed!

k i will try that then, to tell you the truth i was kinda disapointed in this car after this. and i figured out what icm meant right after i posted that lol.

my 2000 gtp did this friday. check fuel pump pressure too. its suppose to be 55. were mine was 10. so the engine simply wasnt getting gas because the pressure wasnt strong enough. price was 250$

so the other day i went down to get the crank position sensor and the tach went to 0 while driving for the first time. installed the sensor and seems to be fixed, thanks guys.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Its a common issue with these cars...while the ICM failing isn't near as bad.

or the icm

ICM would cause a misfire. Not the tach moving to 0.

Aaaaaaaand...it was the CPS. Good job.
