1st time GP buyer with questions

Hi everyone. I don't have a Grand Prix yet, but am looking at buying a 97-03 GTP. I've got leads on a couple local GTP's. I went to look at a 2000 GTP the other day. Guy was asking $2900 for it, but the whole exterior was so beat, I wouldn't have given him $500 for it.
What I want to know, is... what are the typical problem areas on these cars? I wanna know what to look for so I don't get a money pit.
The one's I am looking at right now are between 130k and 150k. Would buying one at this kind of mileage be fine depending on condition, or should I be looking to save more money to buy a lower mileage one?
Looking forward to buying and getting into modifying a GP! I've seen some really nice ones on here already!

Go with 98-03 er 98-02 .. 03s are a little different in some areas and if you ever need some parts finding them may be a little harder . biggest problem is trannys . but if it shifts good then go with it. lower millage the better specially if you wanna mod it. but long as the motor is strong i would not worry about it

Welcome to the forum by the way

Have read on here that the 98-02s have pretty much everything in common, whereas the 97 and 03 are more on their own. The tranny also seems to be something I have read a bit about.
Anything else that is GP specific to look out for?

Thanks for the welcome!
