I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT, with original factory security alarm installed. I purchased the vehicle in June 2011 with 92,000 miles, and it was in beautiful condition. About a year ago was the first time I had a problem with the alarm going off, immediately upon ignition start-up, following a heavy August rain. The alarm goes off, and the engine won't start. After it dried out for a day, however, all returned to normal. Then, I had the same problem twice again, over the past 2 weeks, after washing the car. Again, after sitting for a day, returns to normal. Does anyone have this similar problem? Is there anyway to check if / how water is getting onto the alarm electronics, possibly causing false alarming due to short-circuit, etc.?? Does anyone know where the alarm mudule / wiring harness is located on the vehicle, so I can at least inspect it, and check for damage or water leakage path? Thanks so much for any help!
