1998 GTP totaled, looking to replace with 2006 - opinion's on pricing

Hey guys. My 1998 GTP was totaled last week in a head on collision with an idiot traveling in the opposite direction, who decided to take a left turn that ended up squarely in the drives front center. My wife was driving, and they hit head on. He was ticketed, my wife was seen at the hospital and is doing ok. Both air bags deployed, breaking the windshield. The hood, drivers fender, bumper, and radiator support are all trashed - the car was declared a total loss this morning. It had 95k on it and was super clean, hoping to get at least $5k, we'll see how they do.

At any rate, I'm going to replace the car with another GP, and I found a 2006 GT (supercharged, I guess they dropped the GTP in 2006) with virtually every option except navigation and HUD which are both meaningless to me anyways. The car has 91k miles, and appears to be in excellent condition. What should I expect to pay for this thing, and is there anything I should look for that's a specific trouble spot for the 04+ cars? Thanks for your help.

Is the car at a dealership or a private party? If it's at a dealership I wouldn't pay anymore than $10,000 AT THE MOST.

Big trouble spots are obviously things within the transmission, front bumper seems to sag quite often on these cars (not sure on the rear bumper? Mine hasn't) and the power steering makes noises a lot.

Also the interior is made from a lot of plastic which I think makes it look really cheap inside.

But if you don't put the pedal to the metal all the time and take care of it you'll be just fine.

Just my .02 cents

buy the GTP back and part it out!

Thinking about it - I have a just rebuilt blower on a perfect running L67 with a perfect trans, I know that could make some Fiero very, very happy. I put a deposit on the car, I picked it up for $6500.00, which was the best deal by a good margin I found anywhere. Drove it around a while, trans was well behaved, hit it with several full power 1-2 upshifts and 2-1, 3-2 downshifts which it handled without problems, everything worked and no strange rattles. Little brake pedal pulsation, but more than likely from sitting on the lot for days on end. Should be a good replacement.
