Hello, I am new here, and would like to say Hello to all.

My girlfriend had the dredded engine oil fire in her 1998 GP two years ago, and I have been trying to fix it on and off since. In short, after the fire the engine had a knock, inconsistant, but loud. Checked the harmonic ballancer, didn't fix it, removed the rockers and checked for broken spring, not joy there either, I sounded like it was coming from the top of the motor, but could never find it. I was not in the car when the fire occured, and don't know how hard she was pushing the car,( she was mad at me because I didn't want to attend one of her family gatherings) LOL, anyway, as the fire was burning the plug wires, she was dropping cylinders, and not sure what she did. I picked up a motor from a junkyard out of a 1997 something, but it wasn't a Grand Prix.. I have swapped all the mounts, exhaust manifold, ect. but now I am down to finishing the assembly of the crank side of the motor. I took the other motor apart two years ago, and remember the coilpack bracket came apart in a rather unusual manner, I didn't take pics at that time, didn't expect to take this long, LOL

Does anyone have any pics of that area of the motor, the harness routing ect that they could email me. I have been looking for another 98 in the area but have not found one yet, a 2002, but it's a little different..

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks,,,,Tom

3.8 to a 3.8, think it was out of a bonnivile by the engine mount positions. but it was out of a 1998. The fuel vapor tubing off the throttle body was different, but i will contend with that later... I can go take some pics and post them..
.

this is the area i need help with right now.

pic one, take the wire harness out from behind the coil bracket. on the small bolt the icm ground wire gets bolted there. then the harness leads down the crank sensor, the cam sensor maybe there too.

the top of the engine, when you drop the new harness over the engine all the plugs should fall in place really the plugs will only plug in where they belong.

is there any pics of how it all looks when it's installed correctly, i will reposition the harness and look at it again tomorrow, thank you. I'll Be Back......... :)

best you could really do is to search the members rides section for the ones labeled "build" some guys take good pics. you may see some thing you need.

This one might help some.

Click the link my sig. I've got a quite a few pics that may be helpful as you finish putting the engine together.

After two days of driving around, I found a 1997 model to get pics from, so I am going to share them as to maybe help others. Merry Christmas.......................

Thanks for all your help :)
