1997 gtp dp questions

Can I put a 3 inch bolt in dp with the stock manifods? I guess everything would be stock in the exhaust but the dp.
 


Yess i just put a 3" dp on my stock gt....but the out let has to be 2.5 so it matches the catback exhaust otherwise you gotta cut it and by a reducer
 
Oh and if you are intrested in a ported front manifold since it is more restrictive then the rear i have one. Put those both on and your gp will sound alot more better mine does. LMK
 
1) If you want to sell something put it in the FS section
2) Porting a front manifold does nothing for the sound
3) You don't have to get a reducer for anything...BOLT IN means it BOLTS RIGHT IN PLACE OF THE STOCK PIECE.

First of all this is the gayest site out of all of them because i can not post anything in the for sale forum till i get some 22 post of something corny like that, and what does it matter if i helping this guy out and giving him some options along the way?

Second of all you probably never even had one and are just talking out of your as.s, dont come up with some lame story how you do now.

Third of all and most funniest is the new guy to all this stuff knew what i was talking about i bet unlike you.... There are bolt in dp's of different sizes like 3" with 3" outlet or 3" with 2.5" or just 2.5" all around. NOW if he got a 3" dp all around hes just gonna be able to bolt that up to his stock catback? yaaa right! Thats why you would need a reducer from 3" to 2.5 to bolt it up to the stock catback. So why dont you go stfu prick, I can tell your bored and you have no life i guess but you not gonna tell me what to when you have no idea whats happening. God i cant believe i just brought myself down to your level to write this for you.

Conclusion is you sound like you talk the talk before you walk the walk.

That has to be the worst comeback ever...and how am I still wrong...your post says absolutely nothing. And if you know anything about these cars in the first place you should know the catback is the LEAST restrictive part of the exhaust system. U-Bend is first and then the downpipe. You WANT a 3" Downpipe on these cars...if our using a 2.5" DP and modding your car anywhere past a couple bolt-ons...you should be going 3". As for the manifold porting...is it better than stock? Yes. Is it worth taking off and porting? Not really. That "sound" you got in the exhaust was from the DP, not porting the manifold. If you think you got more sound out of the car by taking some casting off of a piece manifold...YOUR wrong.

Was saying you should get the right size to fit the catback like 3" to 2.5 ya know ...thats if you dont have plans to change the catbackk err.

idc what anyone says when you open up something it will give more sounds just like if you had a horn kinda closed up then you open it more and you will get more sound.

yeah the dp takes most of the credit for the iimproved sound. But opening up the front manifold to equal the size of the rear is gonna make the sound equal out a little better.

I don't care what you say dude.

Your just not right. Especially with the sound and mating up to a certain size part. PLENTY of fast cars on here use the stock catback...why? Its quiet...and there are NO flow issues until over 350WHP. Maybe you need to sit down and read my thread I typed for people like you. It's called Safely Modding Your 3800 in the General Tech Section.

Alright your having way to much fun and getting over you head.

I never said there was a flow issue with the catback....alll i said was if you are getting a dp you should get the outlet end to match the catback size otherwise your slowing down the exhaust a little if you put a all around 3" DP on

Example.. When you gasket match the LIM you wouldnt just stop there and not do the heads, because then that would be messing with the flow now.
 
well, now that you guys went off on a tangent and started fighting, here is my answer, then the thread is closed:

a bolt in 3" downpipe from ZZP will bolt in to the stock manifolds as well as the stock cat back. there will be no change in sound, and if there is any it will be very minimal. porting the front manifold will only give marginal gains. with the price of headers nowadays, its a waste to not jump on a set.

if you have any more questions about other stuff, start a new thread and hopefully no one will **** all over it like this one. sorry for your loss.
