i have 97 gtp and when i push on the gas too take off it shakes and bogs down bad. it still gets up and goes but definately lagging. kinda hard too explain. the check engine light also flashes when this happens which is everytime i put the pedal down too pick up speed. this is a very well maintained gtp and i just have no clue where too start i put new plugs in recently. oh and idk if it matters but i also put in new fuel filter also. just looking for some help. all of my cars have been grnad prixs love them and never had major issues til now. any help or suggestions? i heard maybe the wires would do that? idk please help!

well in that thread everyones talking about when they are going fast. mine does it when i put my foot down half way i need too change the wires anyway i figure. but i just cant believe one plug wire would do soo much. flashing light means misfire but are there other things that could cause this issue besides plug wires? the coil packs are newer and i know those very rarely go bad. clogged cat maybe?

Flashing light technically does not mean misfire. It means a possible catalytic damaging condition. Most of the time, it's a misfire. Could be a few other things, but most of us having run across them.

Get the car scanned for codes and post what the codes are. This will help us help you figure it out. I just went through this on my 00 GT and found a cracked coil which then took the ICM with it. The only code I had was a P0300 (Random Multiple Misfire).

I havent had a chance rececently too get it checked cuz i work 12 hrs a day and have two kids and a wife and time is slim. The code reader said both o2 sensors before and after cat were bad and a misfire in cylinder number 4 thats all.

Check to see if the plug wire for cyl. 4 is touching the O2 sensor back there. If so, then it may have fried the plug wire.
