• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

1996 gp special edition

That year are the last of the 5th gen w-body Grand Prixs, which were also the last ones to have L4 engines or 5 speed standard transmissions as an option.

There's not as much info on those as there is for the 97-03 and 04-08 generations on this forum, but there's definitely enough to help you with just about any question you might have.

If you can give us more info, as in what engine it has, what trans it has, how many miles, etc... We can definitely give you some advice on maintenance that it might need or certain systems that need checked more often than not due to common problems.

Just keep in mind that it's a 21 year old car, it's probably going to have some issues.

It has 3.4, 120000 miles it looks just like gtp with louvers.it even has leather.very clean. Asking 2400,im going to offer 1800.dose it have the same suspension as gtp.no heads up or driver info center.i would like to add these if i can find.

I'm not sure if the suspension is the same, but that's pretty low miles for a 96.

You might have a bit of a search ahead of you, looking for the HUD and DIC. I'm sure there's someone on here that could help you out though.

Find out when the Timing Belt was replaced last. This is a service item that must be done and if it breaks, it will destroy the valves in the engine. The 3.4 was a good engine when running, but when it needed service it was a PITA to work on. Changing the alternator or coil packs was ridiculous.

Looked at a 95 that was very clean. I did some reading about the 3.4. There's some other quirks besides what waupachino mentioned, iirc.

The 3.1 is the longer running, less troublesome engine in those.
