1994 pontiac grand prix se timing belt questions

This was my buddies car, I bought it off of him for 300 bucks, the car is in great condition cosmetically, but the timing belt shredded, I am going to fix the issues and sell the car to make some extra money. My question is what would be the best route to go about for diagnosing? I was thinking i can pull the engine, pull the heads off and inspect the valves and pistons for any damage, then go from there. I don't want to put a new timing belt on to find out the valves are bent or something. Any tips on removing the engine? I didn't take too hard of a look at how it is mounted, but it seems the motor and tranny both mount to the subframe, so I was thinking I could just drop the subframe and then separate the motor and tranny, and tear into the motor, but now that i think about it, I do not have a lift so i doubt there will be enough clearance to drop the subframe and maneuver the sub frame from underneath the car. I am just wondering what the best way is to remove the engine, so if anyone can give me some pointers on that, I would appreciate it!

an SE doesnt have a timing belt since it has a 3100. it has a timing chain. if you had a GTP that had the DOHC 3.4, then you'd have a timing belt.

pulling the motor isnt hard, the engine bay is pretty damn big for the motor. pull it from the top, 100% easier than dropping the sub frame.

well im positive it has a timing belt because I looked at it today, so maybe the previous owner installed a different engine in it. because the intake says 3400 series.

OK in 1994 the general rule of thumb is the SE came with the 3.1 and the GTP came with the 3.4 however there were some SE's built with the 3.4 although they are not common. and the 1st gen GTP's are not Supercharged, they were only supercharged after 1997

ok, so i must have one of those uncommon SE's with the 3.4 then. Alright guys I appreciate the quick responses, I don't have the car yet, i gotta borrow a trailer because this thing doesn't run. If i have any more questions I will ask
