1993 grand prix coupe driver side door handle

I have a 1993 black Pontiac Grand Prix Coupe 3.1L V6 with 97k miles and my driver's side door handle has disconnected, causing me to have to climb in through the passenger side.

The car runs like a beast, I just thought I would come here, post, and see if anyone has any advice for my situation. It appears to buy a new door handle would be $25-$35, but is it possible to pull the interior panel off to see if the handle cables can be re-attached and I can fix this **** for free?

These handles are known to break. Most of the time I see the handle breaking, rather the one of the rods coming off.

If it's not broken, it might need to be adjusted. Can you open the door from the inside?
