1963 ford falcon

So I was recently given a 1963 falcon. Its in running condition and the interior and body is in great condition. I shall post pictures this weekend when I get back to TN where its at. It has 67xxx moles on original motor and tranny. The fuel pump is an after market one and the fuel tank was recently sent off to be sand blasted and relined on the inside. Great car and have been wanting it for awhile. Glad it was free. I'm gonna do a little engine work on it when I get home cause last time I rode in it it was running a little ruff. It is carborated. Anyone got any ideas as to good things to do to a car this old?

Straight six with 3 on the tree or is it an auto trans? I would drop a small block in there from a 5.0 Mustang...ultimate sleeper.

Its got the auto trans. And I really want to just keep it as stock as possible. I need to clean the engine bay up a lot as its a mess. Got cords just laying around and all. But that won't be to hard. Plenty of room to work in the bay to. Original radio and still works. I plan to make a wooden box and mount in floor board with a custom sound system. I just gotta decide where I wanna put speakers at

Very cool! My buddy had one back in the day and if I recall they have vacuum operated wipers...so when you stop at a light the wipers go like hell and then you get back on the throttle they go back to normal speed. Lots of interesting stuff.

Yes it is definitely some new things for me to learn. If I can find a way to get it to Jacksonville from TN I wanna do a lot of things to it. ie do a lot of rewiring cause of how shi**y the original wires are. The fuel lines are all new so I don't gotta worry about that. It could use a little exhaust work. And them the engine needs some work. I found a website dedicated to falcons I've been reading up on

Yeah, electrical problems are pretty rare compared to what they used to be. Now that Detroit uses split-loom and sealed connectors electrical in general is much more reliable. My buddy got his Falcon from his grandma and was all excited about dropping a V-8 in there until he wrapped it around a tree in the rain...those old bias-ply tires were like bicycle tires. It's a classic, good luck with the project!

Don't plan to put much on it. Stock its worth more and to me I just like it looking old like it was made

Jay Leno has a 1963 1/2 Falcon Sprint in his "garage"...came from the factory with a 289 small block and 4 on the floor.

Rubber parts, fluids, fluid lines, filter(s), clean grounds, clean the carb, full detail.

The Carb filter is new. Guy just replaced it. And as for the other stuff definitely some good things to do. The electrical I'm planning on replacing moat of the wiring with new good wires. A lot of the old one are corroded and filthy. One of brake lights don't work due to bad wires

so far this weekend all i was able to get done to it was super clean all the interior which is in awesome shape. After i did that i started pulling out all of the heater stuff. It wont blow out heat..and obviously with how old the car is there is not a thing as AC. but it does have a heater that i am still investigating. I'm going to finish taking the dash apart in a couple weeks when i come back to TN to finish replacing the tubes and a few other things that are behind the dash. I have some sheets of plastic to which i plan to make a few things for back there out of instead of paying a ton for the exact piece thats supposed to be there. But my thinking is that if it cant be seen...and it works fine and wont tear up then use it. the engine i started on the wiring but that is going to be a long and very painful thing to finish. I bought a bunch of different color wiring and am doing it one at a time so i dont get any of them mixed up.

Glad to see a few people enjoy older cars as much as I do. I'm not gonna be able to work on it for a couple weeks cause I don't got a way to get it to base. But tomorrow my neighbor in TN who's a mechanic is taking the transmission out which is super easy on this car and he's sending to a guy I know to rebuild it. I already have the rebuild kit but no idea where to start or how to. I also have some new tubing for the radiator lines but they didn't have any for this car so they have to be molded to a shape that will work....as for any other plans I dunno yet what to do to it. Probably gonna take a few more things apart and clean them. The under body has a little rust so I'm gonna use a sander to get rid of it and coat it with something but dunno what yet. Any ideas what I should use. Its gonna be alot of sanding and I don't want to do it again.
