180tstat causing issues?

Hello everyone...noob back again with another dummy question.. sorry about all the posts I just want to get my new gtp road worthy and have some fun for once... anyways I just put in the 180tstat as I've read it's a good thing to do for these cars...but further digging I learned that it doesn't do much unless I get a tune to have the fans kick on at 180 as well? So is this kinda a waste until I do get the tune? And more importantly can it cause any issues? Went to AutoZone to use there OBD2 to verify my CEL causes, and something came back regarding a thermostat? Don't see why that would happen unless using the 180 is throwing things off?
 


I'd stick with the stock thermostat as you are correct, a lower temp one will not trigger the fans unless you are tuned to do so.

If you have a CEL code always post it here so we can help w/o trying to guess what it is. Will get you more accurate answers.
 
Ok I will order an OEM 195tstat and put that in...but until then will the 180 cause any of the issues I'm having? High trans temp/cylinder 1 misfire And yes the CEL code is p0301 should I start another thread?
