180 tstat drilled or not drilled?

Im looking to get myself a 180 tstat when i flush my coolant should i get a dilled one or just the regular one?
 


Where you live, I wouldn't get a drilled tstat for winter. My car won't stay at operating temp below 40*. On a trip I took where the temp was 28-32*, the temp settled at about 165*. Didn't affect my heat or anything, but up North where it's colder I would definitely run a non-drilled in the winter.
 
ive been running my drilled 180* through the winter for the first time because im lazy to change for a rergular 180*

and its horrible when its trying to get up to operating temps.
anything 40* or below i can barely get the coolant temp up to 160*

so basically i agree with the above post.
 
i run a non drilled 180* all year round here in NYC no complaints. the only thing i do is turn off the setting in the PCM that lets the fan run for 2minuets after you turn off the car
 
The only advantage of running the drilled tstat that you buy from a vendor is to prolong warm up which will be a big advantage for the track. I run a 180* year round with a small 1/16 diameter hole similar to what is on the stock t-stat. Just get a regular 180*
 


i currently have a drilled 180. and my check engine light is on and had it checked at autozone and they said it's due to defective t-stat. so just like everybody else is saying run with regular 180 the winter.
 
i run a drilled 180 in the winter because im not changing it unless it is broke. my car gets up to temp just fine if i drive for more than 15 minutes.
 
I have ran both and have not really noticed a difference between drilled and non drilled. But a 180 is a good t-state to run no doubt. Currently I have a drilled one, and I leave it in my car all the time. Though its only driven in nicer warm weather now.

The GF's '97 I put in a regular 180 t-stat and with her F1 hood, her car stays nice and cool in the summer time. I leave her T-stat in year round, as she drives it year round. It does not have a problem getting warm in the winter time. Runs a hell of a lot cooler than it did before though.

I would say get you a 180, and if you want...you can always drill it yourself later. I laugh at those who paid extra to have them drilled when they bought them. Amazing what you can do with a 1/8" drill bit about about 30 seconds.

yea ill probably just get the non drilled one for now... my car is a daily driver so itll probably be smarter
