18" rims with Turbo

Someone told me that 18 inch rims with a turbo can cause CV shafts to break more often and that i should run 16's with it.

Is this true because i like the look of my 18's way better and im in the market to be putting some new rubber on either rims so i want to know which one i should be shopping for. Thanks for any input

snapping CV shafts would probably be related to launches.

if the 18's weigh more than a stocker combo (which is the case most of the time) it will put more strain on everything in the drivetrain.

Given that GXPs run 18s factory, I don't think its so much the wheels, but the turbo (mainly launches) :p

Alright perfect. I already have the upgraded half shafts in the car so hopefully they hold up! Ill just put the rubber on the 18's and not launch it like an ass

The upgraded axles are known to be weaker then stock. Im 99% sure ZZP uses stock GM axles on their race cars.

Heavier wheels would put more strain on the axles. Lower the car and changing the geometry can apparently cause issues as well.

GM racing made parts for the sobalt, not for our cars.

somehow the chain was applicable to ours as well as the diff if i have my facts right.

Which i probably dont.

traction is directly dependent on weight.

hence fosho always saying the 7/8ths chain is good if you can get your race weight down to 2800/3000 lbs. Much higher and you need the 1".

Im pretty sure those are the half shafts in my car now.. They sell them on ZZP as well.
Im gonna go ahead and mount the 18's i wont really be launching that much anyways. but what happens if i go from say a 40 km/h roll?
