I only have a 02 gt. Its got a cai, msd wires, and autolite 606's and im getting 15-16mpg? This cant be right. I have no codes coming up on the reader. Could it just be a dirty maf or bad o2?

i blame the route's and traffic. I can get up to 19 MPG city if the traffic is light and i'm going to school, but going to work is a different story.

about 100k is when the factory recommended replacing things like that. plugs and wires were actually expected to go 100,000

and i'm with matt here, i did DD one night and my DIC got down to 12.9mpg. just the granny gear i guess

i bought my car with 122k on it is there a way to check if all the routine mantnience was done or not really i get about 17-18 mpg if that helps.

short of pulling everything out and seeing what brand it is, not that i'm aware of lol. maybe do some profiling? if you bought it from an older lady like i did, it's probably a safe bet that it wasn't done haha. maybe do a carfax on it. if you're worried about it, change your plugs and wires with your next oil change, that's not too expensive. for a lot of the sensors, i'd wait till it throws a code and acts funny. my car started jumping around when i was driving at like 120k, an O2 sensor and an MAF and problem solved

The gas isn't the greatest either... I always notice when I'm in Michigan I get way better fuel mileage but when I come back to Wisconsin... It drops off a little bit. I can't complain though as of recently, I'm getting between 19-21 MPG in the city and usually top off at 34-35 MPG on the interstate..

When is the last time the car has had a tune up? How many miles on the car? Where are you getting 15 MPG from (DIC or your own math)? As Bio248 said, probably a bad upstream o2 sensor.

You can wait to change it until 100K, but I wouldn't. It's cheap enough to replace sooner than later when you factor in the cost of wasted fuel.

110k on the car. did wires and plugs at 100k and the DIC is saying 15mpg. Im getting around 200-220 miles per tank.

I never replaced a o2 yet. I was thinking about getting a new d/p and replacing the o2's when i did my top swap.
