'13 Dodge Charger Rental

Hey guys. I'm in a rental for a little while since I got into a wreck in the GP about 2 weeks ago. Was not my fault and the other guy's insurance is paying for everything so i'm not too worried about it. But anyways, they put me in a '13 dodge charger and man I think i'm falling in love with it. I was originally planning on buying an older model charger but the new style is growing on me rather quickly. What do y'all think on these cars? Any bad reviews or bad experiences with them? I'd like to keep the GP and just buy the charger but I don't think I would have enough cash to put down to keep a low payment on it and would probably have to end up trading the GP in for it. I'm in the v6 model but i'd definitely love an srt8 or at least an rt for better gas mileage. Is it worth trading in the GP for it? Cuz I do love the GP as well.....decisions, decisions.

Better gas mileage with the larger motor, won't happen...Especially with the extra power on tap. Not the way the tech has been packed into the smaller displacement engines.

If you don't think you'll have enough; then easy choice/answer is...you probably don't. If you have a payment on the current car, I wouldn't even consider trading it off until it's paid for free and clear unless you'd get some crazy good deal on a trade in.

Even then, I'm not sure how Texas works, but if it's anything like Missouri...you have to pay sales tax out of pocket...and if that's the case...your payment would go through the roof, not to mention insurance, property taxes, cost of ownership in general, etc.

And an SRT8...you know they are $40k+ cars right now...and an R/T is easily mid 20's+.

Which is well over a $400 a month car payment not factoring in interest...and that's on a five year note.

I wouldn't do it.

But I'm a numbers guy.

My coworker has an srt8 and likes it but ended up buying an srt4 for the better gas mileage and enjoys it more, plus manual. If you want one that bad go for a like 07. They can be had for like 20 and still plenty of power to burn the **** out of the tires.

I would want an AWD Charger RT 2014. The 2015s look stupid. Unless you get a Supercharged Hellcat with 707hp.

I have to keep at least 1 supercharged car around. I love that whine.

The GP is paid off. I paid for it cash when I bought it back in 08. I actually paid a little over 4k for it with around 60k miles on it and a few cosmetic dings here and there. It was a steal. So no car note currently. I've actually never bought a car off a lot for myself. I bought a '12 mitsubishi endeavor for my kids mom but we are no longer together but either way, it wasn't for me. I remember trading in her stupid ford focus and putting down 5k and her payments are around 300? So not too bad. The total price was I believe right around 20k for it for 10 year installments. Can't remember what interest was and all that but it was a decent deal. I also have excellent credit so i'm sure that helped a lot. When I meant gas mileage, I meant r/t gas mileage vs srt8 mileage. Doesn't the srt8 get like 12 or 13 vs like 20-21 on the r/t? I haven't even shopped around yet, guess you can say i'm just contemplating it more than actually looking. Doesn't hurt to daydream does it? Haha.
