08 Grand Prix GXP Evap Canister Valve replacement

So I got a vacuum leak coming from my evap canister valve so it needs to be replaced. My friend who works at Toyota dealership found the leak for me at his shop, called GM dealer and says the part cost so much but then I NEEDED a harness as well for the replacement. Anyone tell me if this is correct and is totally necessary?
 


Well there isn't much difference in price for the part I need, just curious if the dealer was correct in as well NEEDING the harness as well or was just trying to sell more
 
Yup u do, brother had the same issue. Replaced it without the harness still had the code. New harness? No code.
 
Ok thanks for the advice, probably just have him order it with his dealer discount as its barely anymore expensive than eBay with no hassle
