08 gp leaking oil??

08 gp lvr

my 08 gp is leaking oil, ive looked under the car and it seems to be coming from the oil pan gasket but not 100% sure cause its pretty tight in there. Before i bring it to dealer, anyone here ever have this problem? Its only 80 000kms so like 55 000 miles. and runs perfect. Dont ya hate it when ur babys sick and ya dont know why.....

where is it leaking from? pass side? could be the oil pressure sensor, they fail all the time, its located just past the oil filter, if you turn the wheels to the left and look in to the engine from the back of the pass side wheel you can see if its leaking, (use a flash light) it leaks from the where the wires plug in. run the engine while checking.

its def. leaking above the oil pan gasket but im not sure if its the pan gasket, flywheel seems dry, its still under warranty but they want 120$ for dealer to check it out. guess il hv to pay it, we all know they like the benjamins lol.

That's funny. A Canadian saying "Benjamins".

But seriously, if it's under warranty, why would you have to pay them to look at it? Wouldn't that fee be waived if it's a warranted fix?

LOL, thought about that b4 posting>> Anyway, they want 120$ in case its not the pan but I asked what if its covered under warranty do I get it back, there was no because they need to pay someone to llok at it? Ya, sounds nuts to me. Im using full synthetic. I treat it like a baby, I havent driven it hard. Unless the gaskets that year are bad.

if you are not under warranty, F the dealer, get a set of jack stands or car ramps and some di greaser, clean it up, and then drive it for a day and start to look for the sorce.

could be the valve covers leaking.

i'd rather flush 120 down the bowl then give it to a dealer to "look" for a leak, fvck them.

ramps or a jack and jack stands are always on sale for less than 50 bucks, go buy that instead. and look for yourself.

Man that sucks. My warranty covers all related costs, including diagnostics.

I'd pay it, only because if it turns out to be something more then a pan gasket, you are covered.

Do you do your own oil changes? My brothers bronco truck was leaking like a sieve after the first oil change till we found out it doesn't take 8qt like the manual said. Changed the oil and put 6qt in and the leak stopped but the dipstick still read the same.

yes, i do my own work. Now that i have a vehicle worth "looking after" i might not but il def. do the clean up and look at it couple days later. It just doesnt mk alotta sense to me, it doesnt hv alot of wear. The heads r dry too. I gotaa do a pan and filter drop too, appearantly noone is a fan of a flush. so i wont. il post on the mystery leak.. thanks alot guys.

If you get under it with a flashlight. You can look up and see if the rear/front valve covers are leaking. Just look your way up the block. Anything above the oil pan is typically a valve cover/LIM. If it's in the centre (eh) of the motor, then that's a VC.

find another dealer bud...we warn people here if it's not warrantable there will be a charge...but if it is warranty there is no charge. dealer is tryin to milk ya. if it's the only gm dealer in town go see the service manager or even call GM customer service. having to pay for diagnosis on a warranty claim is a load of crap.

Funny coincidence. I took my car to the dealership for a bearing replacement under warranty. And they said my oil pan gasket was leaking. Which is ALSO a warranted fix.

just got back from the dealer, the oil pan gasket did get replaced. They had to drop the whole front clip to take the pan out. Well, idk...... they didnt charge me for doing the labor or parts. But i was left with a wheel alignment right outta whack . And they gave it to me right at closing. so i guess i did have to pay.
They told me from 06-08 the gaskets were really bad cuz theyd crack after being compressed. Sux for people who dont check their oil reg.
