07 GP GT: Sudden loss of horsepower?

I just got home 5 mins ago, took some time looking my car over just to see if I could find something. The problem occurred while at a stop sign, I slowly accelerated like I always do in town and about 20 ft after the stop sign I heard a soft pop and all my acceleration just died. At first I thought I had destroyed my transmission but I stopped the car and put it in reverse, that worked, then tried drive, it worked but I had to just touch the gas. Holding the gas down any further would result in the engine revving up but the car not moving, like it was in neutral, but if I touched it lightly it drove enough that I could get it home. Any ideas as to what is wrong with it?

I've had lifter knock for about 3 months, it's on my LONG list of things to do, but I was trying to get my other car running first before I took the top off of my GP so I could send the supercharger off to get rebuilt before I buttoned it all back up. Would that have any effect on it or is it an isolated problem? I know the cat is bad, that's another thing on my list to get replaced. Sadly I have more problems than I do money.... Any insight would help out a lot guys, thanks for your time.

It has 150k on it, the bearings are sounding kind sad so I think rebuilding it while I have the top off is a good idea. Oh, I forgot to mention, when I hit the gas too hard and then let off, it makes a whining noise, like something winding down. I'm guessing that's my transmission but I'm not sure....I'm not a mechanic sadly.

Oh, my car is stock btw, nothing but stock parts on it since I pretty much assumed I'd make the car worse if I did anything to it. I just drove it around my yard, if I turn it about half way left or right I hear a grinding noise, my guess is the transmission is going out... yay me....

Edit: Just checked the cv joints, the boot next to the driver side wheel hub has a decent sized gash in it so it sprayed grease all over everything. I pulled it off expecting to find some sort of failure but the shaft seems ok to me, I'm no expert so I don't know exactly what I'm looking for but if anyone has any clue, help would be greatly appreciated.

The cv joints are brand new btw, just installed them 3 months ago.
