06 grand prix ignition

yeah so when I was putting the ignition tumbler back in the dash I brokr a black plastic ring off of it...

it appears as though it must have something to do with the transponder key?
I can see two really little copper wire protruding from where it broke

does anyone have any suggestions on where i need to go next? is this the most expensive thing I could have broken?
 


Last time I had that out it was part of the ignition lock cylinder so you would have to get a new cylinder...
I beleave they re-key them to your key according to vin, I would say price it at the dealer and ask them if rekeying is included.

You may or may not have to reprogram the theft system, I would not think so since it will be rekeyed to your origional key and the car will be seeing the same chip, however there could be some other little thing in that ring assembly as well.
