'06+ console on an '04 - Anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried to install an 06+ console in an 04?

The lack of back seat cupholders makes it hard to take the family on any long-haul trips. The kids end up throwing their drinks in the foot well and we've had several spills already because of loose caps, etc.

From what I can tell, the later model consoles all look pretty much exactly the same with the exception of the rear seat cupholders. I'm looking at putting a newer one in my '04.

I can't believe that no plastics company has jumped on this and made an aftermarket cupholder for the 04 that mimics the placement and look of the later models... Seems like you'd have a guaranteed sale to almost any '04 owner you could find...
 


its the same console they just put some slots on the rear side of it and slid a cup holder into the slots... i havent had mine out in a while but it wasnt a drastic change... ive got a 2004, 2005 and 2006 at my house... they started the cupholder in 2005... taking the console out is pretty easy... dont take my exact word for it but there is just 4 bolts on the side by the seats(2 on each side) so you have to move the seat all the way foward then all the way back to get to either ones... and then the rest are clips(like a door panal) so you have to pull up on it pretty hard to pop those clips... i might be mising a bolt but i dont think i am... its been about a year since i took mine out
