05 rear window broken

The rear window on my 05 will not go up or down. It will go up and down by manually lifting but will not go all the way up. When using the switch the motor makes a sound but it sounds strained. Can someone give me some guidance on how to get the window working again?

Pick up a new regulator, short money off e-bay. Springs, cables & cable guides .... something is pooched. Pop off the door panel & have a look/see.

Pull the door panel off and remove the window regulator assemebly and motor.

It's super common for the regulator to bind up and stop working. The motor is likely making that weird sound because it can't overcome the bind in the cables/regulator.

I can almost bet you will just have to replace the regulator assembly.

I have the panel off but I Don't really know what I'm looking at. Would a bad regulator prevent me from putting the window up manually?

I took the cable off the bottom of the guide and am able to get the window up. I only see one bolt holding in the regulator and it will not come out. what's the trick? Also, how do I disconnect the cable at the window?

Yes, it would.

The cables and pulleys will stop the window from moving unless you unbolt the glass from the regulator itself.

This is a general picture of what most regulators look like.

cables cut it should go up and you can put a block of wood under it to keep it up till you get the new regulator. or the cable is still stuck on a slider.

i just had to buy a back one for my regal, 36 bucks shipped from rockauto. ill be changing it next week when it shows up

ive got cardboard wedged between my window and inside door frame to keep mine up. it will only drop 2 inches tho.
