05 GTP with 250k miles, is it worth a rebuild?

My wife has an 05 GTP with 250k+ miles on the clock. The car is a clean and straight, second owner car. The previous owner did a lot of traveling but took very good care of the car. I was thinking of pulling the engine and giving it an overhaul. Its beginning to acquire a few pretty decent oil leaks. It also needs the transmission shift solenoids and pressure control valve replaced.

Honest opinion... With the high miles is the car worth putting the $$ into it for the overhaul or should I just wait for it to go? I would be doing the work myself as this would be a pretty simple job compared to some of the others I've done so the cost wouldn't be to extensive.

If you do anything, only clean it and new gaskets.

Do not open the bottom end, meaning do not check the bearings or anything like that. Once you remove any of that you have to send it to a machine shop as this isn't a chevy 350 or a modern LS motor where things can just be bolted back together without a care.

The motor still runs and has good oil pressure, just let it buck and hope it still lasts a long while still.

Transmission wise, you can pull it apart and check the condition, replace what you need too and carry on. Or invest money in a rebuild kit.

I would have to agree with FFDP on this, just put in new gaskets and call it a day. Make sure the gasket kit you buy has metal intake gaskets and not plastic gaskets, the plastic gaskets are no good and will cause leaks.
