04 leaking antifreeze?

MYGT2

New member
Hey guys Im new to these parts. I went to move the car today after it snowed and I noticed a antifreeze spot in the snow. The snow was a little deep so it rubbed the bottom of the motor, which made the antifreeze into a line. I have no idea what would be leaking, no smells of antifreeze burning no dumby lights coming on.... I have check just about everything I can see with out taking things apart. Anyone else have this problem? Or know what the hell it could be its bugging me like crazy!!!
PS car is a 04 Grand Prix GT2
Thanks in advanced

Sounds like either a hose or radiator. Take it to a shop and have the system pressure tested. This *should* make the leak show up. It may be one of those leaks that only shows up when its fully hot, then closes up as it cools down.

How many miles are on the car? Are you the first owner? Are the factory lower intake gaskets still on the car?

x2 on the pressure test.

if it is more on the pass side i would look at the water pump, if it's in the middle check the radiator and lower hose

just saying, i noticed a green spot in my snow, thought the same thing. turns out it was soap from the trifoam soap at the car was that got frozen to the frame. Think about it

Thanks guys for the imput. Yeah its def. antifreeze I did the finger tested and she was sweet tasting lol. I will get it pressure tested at my friends shop, dont want to take it to a dealer and pay out the nose lol

Had somewhat the same issue 04 grand prix 3.8L. Thought was water pump but in the process of pulling it discovered what I'm being told is a "Key Tube" that is split and leaking. It is located just on top of the water pump and comes out of intake manifold into the belt tensioner. Not sure what exactly this elbow does.

What you are referring to is a coolant elbow. They are known to leak around the o-rings where they go into the LIM. They are available in the "HELP" section at most auto parts stores for about $6. They come in a pack of 2 as there are 2 on these motors, and they are different shapes/sizes from one another. Can't mix them up.
