04 Heated Seats shuts off ?

Just finished up patching my driver side heated seat. The element had frayed and separated in one spot near a solder joint that was embedded in a dab of glue, which ended up leaving a bit of a burn in the cushion. Cleaned it up, re-soldered the element to the patch and buried it in some glue with heat shrink on the exposed element wire.

My multimeter reads multiples of 1000 so when I checked the resistance it pretty much registered 0 ohms (impossible to see if it was 5 or not), so I am going to assume its 5 ohms.

Anyways, the patch job seems to work. What I noticed when testing it though, was that if I turned it on and left it on to heat up, eventually the heated seat would turn off and I wouldn't be able to turn it back on without shutting off the car. If I press the button after it shuts off, both the high and low lights blink in unison and the seat stays off. I actually noticed this behaviour when the seat wasn't working - I tried turning on the heated seats, I would hear the relay click, but the seat wouldn't get warm (because of the break in the circuit).

Is there something else going on here ? Is there a failsafe that I seem to be tripping?

Since the seat has been repaired it seems to not shut off... maybe it was a failsafe of some sort.
