04 gtp Valve cover gaskets???

I have about 65,000 miles on my 04 gtp and my valve cover gaskets are leaking, kinda hard for me to believe at 65,000 I have oil leaks already kinda ticks me right off. But anyways any tricks on how to do this looks like a pain in the rear end calls for about a 3 hour job? Anyone else having trouble with there gaskets on a pretty low milage gtp?

Thanks in advance

A little weepage is normal at that kind of mileage. Things were kind of moist around mine when I did my LIM gaskets at 60k

Well i have a pretty good leak lf I put it up on the rack and look at just behind the pass. side rear of tire the motor is covered in oil and if you put your hand back behind the rear valve cover all you feel is oil and it's all on the exhaust manifold.

I have a 2004 with 102,000 and the LIM was done at 96,000 before I bought the car. The LIM is weeping again and my RMS is seeping. Good Times. The garage quoted me $1200 to fix both oil issues. I know where my tax return is being spent. UGH

i did rockers at like 92000 miles and mine were fine... replaced them anyway but as for bein a 3 hour job.. thats all in experience i guess... maybe for your first time it could take 3 hours.. but if you have experience with tools and just take your time and figure out what needs taken off in what order... you could probably do both sides in an hour or hour and a half

mine were bad too on my 2004. front one is easy. still havnt doen the back one since the coolant elbows will probly break and make it a ***** to do. you have to remove the alternator and brakets and stuff. mostly just time consuming not difficult.

Actually...if your careful....I removed my rear VC without taking off the alt. bracket...gotta work with it but I did remove the the 3 bolts from the bracket and just move it barely enough to get it to work.

It's normal. The gasket setup isn't ideal.

#1 order new Felpro or GM gaskets and make sure the grommets are with them. Grommets are required, not optional.

Front:
Then disconnect the battery and undo the nuts holding the coil pack on the head. Slide the coil pack/dog mount to the battery out of the way of the VC. Pull the valve cover and clean it all up. Reassemble using a 3/8" socket and torque to 89in lbs. Put coil pack back in place and tighten back down. Tips: some find removing the engine lift bracket to make it a little easier torquing that corner bolt. Not necessary.

Rear:
Drain about a gallon of coolant. Disconnect driverside dogbone, use the second bolt location on the passengerside dogbone to pull the motor forward and hold it. Looking at the back of the SC, unplug the evap soleniod connections and remove the 13mm bolt going from the alt bracket into the SC. Remove the 15mm nut at the other end of the bracket and take bracket out of the way. Remove the three bolts holding the alternator and flip it up on the SC (or unhook the electrical and get it totally out of engine bay). Find two more bolts holding the alt/tensioner bracket to the head. One is out of sight down by the coolant hoses. Wiggle the tensioner/alt bracket off. Check power steering fluid, C'mon it's the perfect time. Remove the engine cover bracket that bolts to the rear exhaust studs (2 13mm nuts). Remove valve cover.
