04 gtp rubbing noise while moving

Been hearing a rubbing noise since we got new tires and a rotate. You can start hearing it pretty well at about 30 mph and the intensity increases as you speed up. Does not seem to be happening while the car is standing still. Sounds like its coming from the passenger side, but cant tell if its front or rear. Have since taken tires back off and checked the breaks / emergency breaks to see if they are locked up at all with no luck. Pretty sure I can feel the rhythm of the rubbing thought the floor.

Anyone have any other ideas I can check out?

Thanks!

Does it go away if you turn left or right while at speed.

Go try it and see if the sound either gets louder as you turn one way or you stop hearing altogether if you the turn the other way.

From what information you give, I think it's a wheel bearing. I see it at work alot where we put new tires one a cars and they come back because of a noise. Their old tires were so loud they couldnt hear anything else, so with new quiet tires all the sounds are there. And of course we don't test drive the cars because they only came in to buy tires and not for mechanical work.

We did replace the bearing on the front passenger side a couple months ago. Maybe something came lose? I'll try and listen to see if the sound gets any louder while turning.

Also forgot to mention that we replaced both front ball joints not too long ago.

Thanks for the idea!

Hub might be defective. What brand did you buy?

Found out it is the driver side bearing now. Not sure what the brand is on the passenger side. Is there a more preferred type of bearing to go with?

Having checked autozone and advanced auto I'm looking at in store pickup prices of 100 to 180.
A quick online search shows me prices around 55.

Timkin, SKF, Moog are good brands.

Those cheapo 40 buck bearings can go bad in less than 10k.

I had one last only 3k in my car before it started howling.

And for future reference, you typically want to change the bearings in pairs...if one is bad, the other one isn't too far behind...

Yah.. that was completely the case here. Maybe had 2 months after replacing the passenger hub before the drivers side crapped out. Thanks for the tip!
