• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

04 GT 2, 165K mi., car hard to get to 65-70, rpm up and down w/gear hunting

Just started the other day about 70 mph on slight uphill, the trans was having trouble staying in OD, shifting and revving. It's got about 165 k miles on it. I check fluid and needed a pint. It seems like OD might be going from searching here. We have an OBD code scanner, but haven't tried it yet because I'm recovering from a painful lower back issue.

It's been serviced a couple of times, but suffered some lead foot in it's time.

Thinking about a used one, or maybe a rebuild or solenoids or whatever 'cause I'm not sure what's wrong. Money's tight as usual.

Thanks for your suggestions!

You could drop pan do filter and fluid change put transgo shift kit and bottle of lucas. Maybe buy you some time to save more for a replacement or rebuild.

We're going to take it out to see how 1, 2, 3 work. It probably won't give up a code on the OBD scanner we bought at Sears back a while. I have a back problem & no place to work anyway so hopefully the local trans shop can help figure it out.

Well that didn't go as hoped. It has issues in 3rd gear too - jerking and having issues getting up to/ maintaining speed smoothly. Gonna try limping it home which is closer to the trans shop.

Got home ok. It has issues jerking, etc. even in 2nd gear on an uphill. I'm not sure what the problem is.

We have a Craftsman 9 87702 CanOBD2 code reader. I think it might get trans codes. The manual talks about them as a code type, but doesn't give much detail about any codes. The reader says no codes are stored for the vehicle.

Crap. That wasn't helpful.
