Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

04 CompG, no 3rd again and again

It started about 3 years ago while 2 hours from home the car was overheating a bit and was shifting hard. Then.....clunk....no hard shifting and no 3rd gear. Drove it like that for ages until the trans finally died 2 months or so ago.

Aamco did a soft rebuild with a 3 year warranty (luckily). The car still didn't feel right and 3-4 days later, no 3rd again. Brought it back in and they rebuilt it again and with a new valve body. At this point he said everything has been replaced on the trans (don't believe these people anyways). The car felt ok but still a lil hard shifting IMO. Drove it the past week and a half....then last night, no 3rd again. No signs, no nothing. Just have to rev the car up to about 40mph and trick it to go into 4th.

I'm gonna bring it to a different Aamco, but geez this is crazy. Anybody have any ideas or similar issues?

If it goes out and they are messing around with the VB to get it back, then likely it's a gasket leaking (bleeding off pressure so the 3rd clutches can't be engaged) or there's a sticky valve/soleniod issues happening. I don't recall there being any issues on the 3rd apply valve area.

Well they supposedly rebuilt it, and then again but with the addition of the new valve body. His words are everything in the trans is brand new except the "remanufactured" torque converter.

You can "feel" where the trans tries to shift into 3rd but the rpms just keep climbing as if your whining out 2nd. TapShift shows it in 3rd but same thing.
