04 CompG new head unit questions

First off I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to audio stuff. I've done a few installs in the past tho. I have an 04 CompG, it's got the monsoon and onstar. I do not have XM so I cannot splice in an aux jack. That is the main thing that I really want. I want to be able to hook up my iPhone for music etc. I do not have a use at all for onstar, but I would like to keep my steering wheel controls, and if possible the radio info on the hud. But that's not a deal killer. I know I'll need a head unit, I've heard good stuff about the pioneer, what adapters will I need? Any pointers? Thanks guys!

GMOS-04 is the module you need to retain using the Monsson amp and retaining chimes and onstar.

Get a steering wheel control module for whatever HU you decide to get.

Bug fan of pioneers myself

I've never owned a Pioneer, but I've rarely if ever heard people having bad experiences with them, they seem to be reliable and priced very fairly.

I'd stay away from JVC's, as I've had two of those die on me, a single-DIN and double-DIN touchscreen.

I'm a fan of Kenwood personally, I've got an Excelon AVX790 and it's been awesome for the past year or so.

I have the Axxess aswc-1 to retain the steering wheel controls. It was a bit confusing figuring out which wires to use, but programming it was very easy.

My Comp G doesn't have XM either, but the previous owner installed a part by the name of "aai-gm24", and mounted in aux input on the dash next to the head unit. I push band until the screen actually says XM, and it works. I have the stock 6-disc monsoon.

I'll have to give that a try. It says I may have to go to a dealer and have the unused xm port in my radio activated which is do able. Thanks for all the advice guys!
