03 Prix no 1st or 4th gear. Help please.

Ok so this is my brothers car, and as usual I have to fix it. :th_angry2:
Its a 2003 Grand Prix SE 3.1L and he brakes the thing about every 3 months. (Not the cars fault, the owner is a moron!)

Right now he has lost 1st and 4th gear.
So far we have replaced the shift solenoids, the ECU, Reflashed the ECU, and he replaced some sensor as well?

Still dosn't work.

He is a moron and put used solenoids in it:th_lipssealed1:. Don't ask hes not to bright.

He installed a cone filter like 6 months ago and let it rest right on the main harness. It wore threw the harness and the metal end cap on the filter shorted it out. I fixed it, and put the cars stock intake back on and it ran great for 3 months then blew the lower intake manifold gasket. What a pain in the **&^ that thing is to change!

Now he has this trans problem that he wants me to fix and I'm not sure what ells to do at this point?

Any ideas?

If different solenoids didn't fix it, get another trans. No 1st and 4th is a symptom of a bad 1-2 solenoid.

He had used parts installed on the car so I dont know that they where any good.

He got code P0758 before he did any thing to the car.

I'm trying to get more info from him right now. Is there any thing you guys might need to help me?

Also the car is still throwing this code.

P0758 is actually a code for the 2-3 shift solenoid circuit. I would start there, pull the side cover and replace with another 2-3 shift solenoid or make sure that he even plugged it in.

Well I will be there to work on the car my self on the 26th so I will post what I find.

Problem was in the harness.
The signal wire to the 2-3 shift solenoid was broken.
Took me about 6 hours to find and fix the problem.

Trans works great now!
