02 GTP shaking

Hello,

I have an issue with my 02 GTP 3.8 supercharged Grand Prix. Last week the car began to shake (not just the wheel, the whole car, passenger can feel it as well) while accelerating, but not while coasting or in neutral. I took it to my local GM shop and they said that I needed new tires, a new hub and a new tire rod. They also said that I had a coolant leak and that I would need to have the intake gaskets changed. I decided to get the first half done and come back to the gaskets later.

The day I got the car back I had to drive up to CT and the car began to shake while accelerating again.

I took it back to the shop and they said that it is due to the engine misfiring. They wanted to change the gaskets and the throttle body for $2200. I checked out the forums here and saw that while it does take a while the parts are pretty cheap and I should be able to do this myself.

My question is: Could the shaking I’m feeling really be the engine misfiring??? It seems to only happen when the car is moving (when in neutral or park the car stays completely still when I rev the engine). And the car is making a squeaking sound as the wheel turns... Could this be an axle issue?? If anyone has had a similar issue please let me know,.... I’m not sure if this is just a bad shop (not test driving the car) or they are correct and the engine is the issue.

Thanks!

My friend has a hole in the exhaust that caused that, but it was also very loud.

I believe if there is a misfire the service engine light would be blinking.

Check engine light is off, i know someone who has the code reader and ill see what codes the car is throwing (if any). Ill also take it to another shop and see if what they think about it.

Thanks

Took it to several shops. They all suck apparently... One place told me to replace engine mounts, one place said it was a dent in the rim :/

Replaced all that myself, along with wheelhub. Turned out to the the CV. It was toast. Suprised it didnt fail and kill me.
