02 Grand Prix GT beginning mods??

I just bought a 2002 Grand Prix GT. 116k miles, runs good trans shifts quick and firm, fluid is clean and red.
what kind of beginning mods should I do, best bang for my buck? I don't plan on regularly racing it, but being 19 I occasionally like to smoke the tires and race from red lights. I was thinking starting the obvious with a CAI, cat back, and a programmer/tuner if available? Im in college, so I don't have an enormous budget or time for major mods. I took auto tech in BOCES and Ive got a pretty good amount of tools if that helps.

Step one with the way you drive is to save for a trans. Getting on these transmissions from a dead stop will break stuff faster than anything.

Edit: Sorry to come off like a dick. Once you ensure the integrity of the trans, read the link in my signature for a lot of helpful info. I say skip all the nonsense and turbo it. Most people go top swap (I know I did) but for the money, a turbo kit is the way to go.

Race to Harbor Freight and buy a good hydro jack(if you don't have one)
then....lift it and start checking on suspension stuffs. You can't go quick if the wheels don't spin right.
