02 gp gt vs 04 gp gt

So I was on my way home from work last night just getting off the highway to a decently wide road that's probably 5 lanes each side with two that turn three that go straight. I see the far right lane is open at the red light so I get into that lane and as I do the light turns green. I look over and I see an 04 gp gt and don't really think anything of it. Since I've gotten a bigger downpipe u bend delete and a zzp tune I've wanted to know what it would do against another 3800. So we get up to the next light and I look over and it's a couple of guys and girl's and the guy tried to show off and be a douche and point and laugh. So the light turns green and I give it more gas than he was and I hear him gun it. I was already having fun and had it in second and I quickly match him and start pulling away around 50 and let off about 75 and almost had a car on him. We did this a few more times basicly with the same outcome each time. It made me smile to know own that it did that we'll with a zzp tune

he had 3 extra people in it, figure 150 a person? thats a lot of extra weight.

bill boost ran his 02 regal with a hd tranny and a na engine vs a 04 na gp, it was a tie.

3 extra people at say an average of 150lbs per person is 450 lbs. For every 100 lbs lost is .4 off the quarter. Four tenths is a lot, especially with two slow cars.

04+ Gp is 100-150 pounds heavier without the extra people, your car has a 3.29 gear ratio and the 04+ N/A has a 3.05 gear ratio which also gives you a small advantage.

I'm pretty sure the 04+ NA's were still 3.29. Curb weight also isn't all that different. They both come in around 3500 lbs.

Nope 04-08 n/a grand prix are 3.05, my 06 is 110 pounds heavier than my 02 and all my 97-03 Gp have been in the 3340 to 3370 weight range. 04+ are always at least 100 pounds heavier than 97-03 from my experience.

I have an 04 GT. gear ratio is definitely 3.05, and it's definitely 3,578 lbs with 1/4 tank of gas, spare tire, and no people.

Every hundred pounds is usually two tenths and 2~ MPH, not four.

But still.

That had to be the slowest race, ever lol.

Every hundred pounds off is one tenth. You might be thinking of every one tenth off 60' is two tenths off the 1/4.

I own both a 04gt and an 01gt and even when my 01 was stock it felt quicker off the line and I'm sure that's due to the gearing, of course now with all my mods on the 01 the 04 would never touch it.
