01 SE no power to fuel pump

Have an 01 se replaced the pump, relay and checked all fuses and can't figure out why I'm not getting power to the fuel pump. I'm getting spark and the security doesn't seem to be the issue. I have read about the resistor that goes bad but seems to only be on the gtps. Any ideas?

I would start with the pump connections. Make sure you have power and a good ground. If you do then it may be your anti theft system. You have spark so that should rule out the ignition and the crank sensor.

I'm not getting power back to the connections in the trunk that connect to wiring for the pump...I read that the relay should have two power sources one constant and one from the PCM when priming the pump or starting the vehicle...I only have one power source......what sensors effect the fuel pump that would shut it off?

Here is a wiring diagram for the fuel pump on your car. There should be 1 wire at the relay hot all the time, another wire will be hot when the computer sends a signal to the relay (engine cranking and for 2 seconds with an ignition cycle). One wire should be ground all the time. The other wire goes to the fuel pump.

Well found out tonight my problems are worse than the fuel pump...pretty sure the PCM is screwed or a wire is broke somewhere...a biddy brought over his scan tool and the computer wasn't talking to it.....so sounds like I'll be best friends with a test light and volts meter for a while

Double check your cig lighter fuse, if blown the OBD 2 port does not work. And if you are getting spark, the PCM is not bricked and you really do just have a power to th pump problem.

Well I hope so but it doesn't seem like the injectors are firing either because I jumped the relay and got the fuel pump to kick on and fuel pressure to the Schrader valve but still didn't run

It sounds like a theft problem. Here is what alldata says about it:

When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory and performs one of the following functions:

  • If the transponder value is correct, the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel enable password to the PCM.
  • If the transponder value is incorrect, the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel disable password to the PCM.
  • If the theft deterrent control module is unable to measure the ignition key transponder value for one second (due to a damaged or missing pellet or a damaged exciter), the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel disable password to the PCM.
IMPORTANT: If the fuel enable control signal is lost after the vehicle has started, the PCM will enter a fail enable state. The vehicle will not stall or stop running. If the PCM is in a fail enable state when the ignition is turned to OFF, it will remain fail enabled until the next time the vehicle is started. If the PCM is fail enabled the theft deterrent system is NOT active and the vehicle will start. The PCM will remain fail enabled until the fuel enable control signal is restored.

The theft light flashes when the key is off or doors locked but when you turn the key on or try to start the theft light goes off and doesn't flash til you turn the key off again

Here is the PCM wiring. If your buddy's scan tool will not talk to the PCM, then you need to check power, ground, and serial data lines.

Powers and ground on the PCM is the next set of checks...I've been over the fuses 3 times now so I sure that's not the problem

Well got it to fire after finding a power wire to the ecm corroded all the way through but it only started for a second then died...the service engine soon light is not coming on at all...I was told that was a major problem...just gonna keep running wires for now til I find something or someone has a solution for me
