01 GTP torque converter not locking up all the time. When driving you can see the rpms drop and feel it lock up. And some of the time it won't lockup. No transmission codes come up. Don't know what to do. I have a feeling that this is going to cost me some money. The car has 175,000 miles on it and on its 2nd transmission. Instead of rebuilding my tranny and shop replace it and close it doors. Just need some help on getting it running right. Thank you very much
 


Taz, are you relaxed on the pedal enough for it to go into TCC? It takes a minute of cruising to go in.

Wake..W Yar as in ...Cape? Pick up another trans from a yard and swap. Takes maybe $500 doing it yourself for the trans
 
Also what speed and what gears do you think it should be locking up in. If I'm correct I believe 1st and 2nd do not lock up and 4th doesn't lock up until around 45MPH or so I believe.
 
I took my car to the tranny shop. They pull the code po300. Found out #1 and #4 have been misfiring about 4000 times apiece. They told me to get the misfire fix cause they said with that many misfires can have an affect on the torque converter lockup. Looking at the ignition module could be the problem. I'm going to replace all the coils, wires and plugs at the same time. Thanks for all the replys. Wish me luck
 


a guy i go to school with that works for GM proving grounds said the same thing, if the pcm detects any knock it will kick the tc out of lockup as well.
