I replaced the main and rod bearings in 01 GTP. put the engine back in all hook up. it rolls over and fires sometimes but won't start. seems to have black oil on the ground mixed with gas by rear exhaust manifold. i did have it started 1 time but it was a smoke bomb :( i didnt retime it but idk if i had to?

KCK?

I'm close.

Let me know where you're at and I might be able to drop by and take a look this weekend.

I need details though; this thing modded? What all went bad when it blew up? Did you take the block to a machine shop and have the mains line bored before re-install?

If not, it's gonna be a 50 mile wonder and you'll be yanking it out again.

shwanee ks. spun rod bearing. started ticking and stop driving it. my brother changed the bearings and put the engine back in. all stock as far as i can tell. i dont think he took it anywhere. it just spun a lil not overlapped or anything on the rod bearing.

Problem is when you take off the mains it kills the factory way everything was set in place and had been since the first time that motor was started back in 2000~.

So it's probably already shot...bad news bears but I won't know until I take a look at it. Buying a short block from a junkyard or something and just tossing the heads on with new gaskets will be the best bet as of now money wise; if that's an issue...if not...and you don't have to have the car done like in a crunched time manner...take the block out and drop it off at a machine shop with all the rotating assembly and have them assemble it.

rebuilding the origional motor in the garage. all been machined. this engine was put in at the shop from a junkyard and i actually drove it for like 10 miles before it spun the bearing.

The shop put it in. it was complete when it arrived. i know they replaced all fluids and oil pan gasket. new water pump. it didnt leak any fluids.

When we took it out and replaced bearings, we replaced all gaskets that we took off and new fluids

Problem is, look at the LIM gaskets...under the blower, where the intake manifold meets the cylinder head.

Are they black gaskets? Is there a sludge build up? Can you post pictures of basically everything? lol.

From what i understand it was taken out. put on engine stand. flipped over. oil pan removed. replaced main and rod bearings. put oil pan back on. put engine back in car. turns over but no start. its got gas and spark. but it does have like a vaccum leak with a whistle.

When if first fired it sounded like the vaccum was off the break booster. It was loud and we noticed that the exhaust was loose under the air intake (under mass air flow sensor housing). tightened that and vaccum leak still there but not as bad.

Go get some carb cleaner...if you can get it to stay running spray around the engine bay until the idle surges.

Then you've found the leak.

Or, if you didn't use your old sensors...unplug the MAF and try starting it.

found the vaccum leak. was pipe running from intake to exhaust. started and died in 2 mins. remebered that my security fuse was taken out. replaced that and wa-la. runs like a champ. thanks for all the help!

Well its probably already screwed. Started it up today and has a ticking sound coming from a different cylinder. But I'm gonna drive it til won't go no more. Hope that's more the 200 miles. I'll post how many miles it lasted me if or when it goes out again.

Even worse then i thought. Took it for a test drive and tranny lost 2-4 and blowing either rad fluid or oil out the tail pipe. thats yet tbd. i'll post back tomorrow sometime.

Lmao its silver. but i think i have that soultion. seems to be leaking around TB so i am gonna assume all the air wasn't out of it and blew the seal like in my 97. considering it had no fluid at all in the engine when i bleed the thermostat i'll change that tomorrow. also it doesn't blow rad fluid out until the thermostat opens and that the only thing i can find that is after it and is leaking.
