01 GT surging at 40+ mph

Hi guys,
So here's the deal, I got my ideas of whats going on just need some other opinions or confirmation, since the car is still under an extended warranty it will be covered with 100 bucks outta my pocket. Here's the symptoms, at around 40-42 mph when the car shifts into od the rpm's surge 200-400 rpm's briefly, it also does this at 60-65mph but only briefly then it evens out, I did the brake switch test on the tcc by holding 50-55mph and pressing the brake only enough to engage the switch and disengage the tcc and it seems to be working the rpm's will increase 2-300 as soon as the brake switch is engaged. So what I'm thinking is that briefly the tcc goes hunting and then finally does its job, It has been doing this for about 4 days now and I have absolutely no codes being thrown. I changed plugs and wires to eliminate the chance of it being a misfire, I also noticed my tires looked low turns out all 4 where under 20psi so I aired them all to 35 the problem is still there. I figured the low tires could have been creating drag thus throwing off the tcc. Am I on the right track? Also the car does have a ZZPerformance 1.0 pcm and this issue seems to have come once the pcm was installed could this be the issue? I don't have my old pcm anymore so I can't just change them out to see. I do have a 01 GT parts car I could pull the pcm from if it will just plug up and work? Thanks for any input.

Update - I took a drive tonight to get a better grasp on this, I also tried unplugging the battery to reset the pcm? I also cleaned the maf and Tb to no avail, but what I did notice is the most noticeable time the rpm surge takes place is right at 40, while it's still in 3rd gear this would take the tcc out of the mix wouldn't it? Tps? Would I be throwing a code if the tps was bad or going bad? Thanks for any input guys.

Well let's see if this makes sense, I took the car to a local (reputable) transmission shop today, he took the car for a drive on a scanner and when he came back informed me the trans needs to be rebuilt something about the valve body being worn and thus making the torque converter go in and out. Since this repair is covered on my warranty I'm taking it in Tuesday to get rebuilt, even if this ends up not being the issue causing the surging who can pass up a rebuild for 100 bucks.

not bad, have them install a transgo shift kit, order it and hand it to them when you drop the car off. its 40 bucks off ebay, well worth it.

If this was coming straight outta my pocket I would definitely be finding the cheapest route to repair but since warranty covers the rebuild on a 100 deductible I'm just gonna let um have at it. The shop here is transgo happy lol they attempt to sell transgo kits with fluid and filter changes lol so he already included that in the 2k rebuild price.

lets hope they actually rebuild the tranny. most shops will just replace what they think is broken and call it rebuilt. ask if your getting new sensors seals and clutch packs and a new torque converter.

I will most definitely get everything in writing before they even get the keys. Although They rebuilt the trans on my 00gtp a couple years ago and my 99 a6 a year before that and did very good even let me back into the shop to get a look at what was taking place.

I have an 04 GT with 90k but it has a intermittent stalling issue on start up I haven't had time to look into but I guess it's going into use for now, it only seems to do it once a week or so maybe less I'd say 90 percent of the Time it starts immediately but there's that every so often it dies right when the rpm's drop on start up. Maybe that's a subject for a new topic figure I can save space if I just ask on this topic. No cel on it either.

could be a dirty tb, take it off and clean it. 04 has a reusable gasket too. so it simple, unplug it, un bolt it, clean it.
