the hud will still work, but it won't communicate with the HU anymore.

I'm not sure there are any HU's that will communicate with the HUD. I've had mine out for so long I can't recall what the functions were minus it told you the radio station.

The HUD itself will still retain all its other functions though.

Also not a professional installer
