2008 kicked into limp mode and doesn't want to shift out of Park. Help.

My daughters '08 gp has developed two different problems. It's kicked into Reduced Power mode and I'm not sure where to start. I'm getting a few codes. P0446- Evaporator Emission system vent control circuit, P1125-Accelerator pedal position system, P2138 Throttle pedal position sensor/switch D/E voltage correlation and a PO128- coolant thermostat sensor. I've watched a couple of youtube videos and have seen guys say it could be anything from a damaged wire laying on the manifold to a dirty throttle body (this one is new OEM from 2-3 years ago), accelerator pedal sensor (she had it replaced less than a year ago), and fuses. I don't know where to start looking, but this is the car my grandkids drive to school in every day.

Per the not shifting into gear problem, it shifted fine when I got in to check it, but she said for the past few weeks, the kids have said it wouldn't shift from park to reverse, or from drive to reverse. They said it shifts from park to drive most of the time, and then they have to put it in neutral to get it back into reverse. I found one article that said the solenoid that keeps it in park until the brake is applied and the key turned on may be bad (shift lock solenoid?) or maybe the electric line that leads from the shifter to the throttle body. I'm in the middle of rebuilding the front end of my oldest grandsons vw Passat right now, replacing the radiator, condenser, fans and the low side refrigerant hose. My hands are full. Has anybody had this trouble with their GP, and what did you do about it? Any and all comments, suggestions or ideas will be welcomed. Lee

First thing I would do is verify that all the battery cables and ground connections are CLEAN and tight. A bad ground will cause all kinds of havoc. I've had a bad connection completely kill my GP from starting just because the neg. cable was slightly loose on the battery.

Here are some threads on the 1125 and 2138 codes that may help:

For the P0128- https://grandprixforums.com/threads/check-engine-light-p0128-code.77007/

For the P0446 it's likely the vent solenoid on the canister- https://grandprixforums.com/threads/p0446-impacts-suggestions.101180/

Thank you very much, Fordman. Even though she put a new accelerator pedal in less than a year ago, I've ordered another one and a shift interlock solenoid, to boot. I will definitely check all the grounds and wires. I saw a video yesterday where a guy changed out of few parts and then found he had one wire from one connector that had snapped into at the connector blade. I have to get it fixed so they have transportation. Thanks again.
