In 2000 my wife had a GT that we loved, traded it for a mini-van, forgive me.

I have spent the last 12 years in the Mustang world with a 1995 GT, I just sold my Mountaineer and am considering selling the stang and picking up another GP. I am looking at 2006 and newer GP's with lower miles < 30k. Got a few questions that I need answering.

What will a bone stock 3.8L NA run in the 1/4?

What will a bone stock 3.8L SC run in the 1/4?

L36/L26 What years had what engines?

L67/L32 What years had what engines?

Does the SC models in these years run on regular gas?

Any known problems in these years that I should keep my eyes open for?

It looks like the GT's are priced about the same as the NA's, obviously the HP is the advantage to the GT's, and a slight advantage in MPG for the NA's, what other advantage for each model?

Would like to hear everyones input, this car would probably remain mostly stock, yep, I said that about the Stang too!

    Thanks in advance,
    SN95GT50

Come on over man. I feel you about the minivan. I have a GTP and GT, both 97's, and the wife wants to trade the GT fore a minivan. Wish I could give you some info on the years that your looking at. If I come across any, I'll be sure to send it your way.

Bone stock N/A: 15.9-16.5 depending on driver

Bone Stock SC: 14.8-15.5 depending on driver

    L36 is the N/A motor from 97-03 GT/SE's,

    L26 is N/A motor 04-current

    L67 is SC from 97-03 GTP's

L32 is SC from 04- current

you can tune your car to run on regular.....but no SC motor from GM likes regular right off the bat.

97-03 GT's upper intake manifolds didnt like the Dexcool coolant...it would eat through them over time.

If you over boost them by running a smaller pulley...you will pop a piston.

other than those factors....THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE!!! and can be made into anything you want, and be reliable. did I already say reliable?

    Good luck with your search!!!

    ^^^^^what he said...Good Job

Good luck with the search. There are a couple of clubs in IL so you may want to meet up with them for a mod day or something and get some first hand input.

I have been a Ford fan (truck and mustang only) since I was a kid...Just picked up my 2002 GTP sedan about 2 months ago, and I've never been happier with a car (had 5 so far) So far it's reliable, has 83,000 miles, and it's clean, no leaks, full compression, and no issues at all. Plus if you mod it correctly you can do anything. Probably the only thing I don't like is that it corners like crap for a FWD car(at high speeds...it's actually a good car to drive), but it's a boat. Oh, and for a s/c car, I get approx. 25mpg's in town and over 30, sometimes 40 in the highway!!!

The UIM problem on the L36s was more from the EGR stack melting the plastic UIM than Dex. That's why GM added a different heatshield to the EGR stack and the problem went away.

You won't be disappointed, good luck in your search. I have a 2004 GTP CompG, and handling is no longer an issue with the Front/Rear STBs and Don's brackets. They really improved the handling, corners are no match for me anymore.
