• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Used 30-gal Snap-On Air Compressor - Worth it?

So I found this one on Craigslist and I'm planning on picking it up tomorrow BRA5DV30VP, Air Compressor, Portable, Vertical, 30 gallon, 5.0 HP, 125 max. PSI They're asking $350. It's kind of an ugly stepchild in terms of voltage & air delivery... basically needs a 30A 120V circuit (who has...

    Bump when engine turns over...

I get a bump/jolt in the front end when the engine turns over and also one time when I turned it off. It doesn't happen any other time, but it happens every time I start the engine. Engine mounts? I visually checked the pass. side mount for leaks/deterioration and didn't see any oil or cracks.

Do you lose torque through a straight extension?

Okay, I've been doing a lot of internet searching and I was surprised at how big a split there is on this question: Do you lose torque when tightening a bolt or nut using a straight extension? A lot of people say something like this: You should add X ft-lbs for each 6" when using a torque...

    Another one from Michigan...

I'm actually an Impala guy, but the Impala crowd only cares about B-body's. Been reading the forum for 8 months... finally decided to tie the knot. I really like this forum and I'm looking forward to meeting other w-body guys. Also, I'm lookin for a tuner to help me in SW MI, so if you got...

    What pulley should I run?

To start, I'll mention I've read the safely modding thread. My hopes are to swap pulleys if possible before I get my Gen V. My setup is SD headers/corrected catted DP, 4" HAI w/ 9" cone, stock (non-ported) TB & gen 3, AL 605 (can change to 104 pending advice), 195 t-stat (don't want 180 - I'll...

    Very weird engine temperature behavior...

Recently I removed my 180* T-stat for gas mileage purposes (stock car). I had used the 180 as a replacement for a 195 stat that was running below 170, thinking I'll need the 180 soon. Anyway, I took that one out and put in a new Stant 195 thermostat and this is what I'm getting: Temp will warm...

Can someone give me MAF #'s?

I'm looking for some representative MAF readings at different RPM's. Also, does anyone have the MAF frequency (Hz) to CFM's or lb/min air flow rate conversion formula? This is what I'm looking for: at x RPM, MAF is around y Hz (for several RPM's). And, CFM (or lb/min) = .... (function of freq)...

    Future Mods... what to expect

I've been reading this forum and the others for 8 months now... This one is my favorite by far. It seems to be the most searchable and cleanest. Best one for learning in my opinion (thanks to the educators - you know who you are). My question is the following: I've read about the potential...
