• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

    Removing firewall grommet???

In the past, I've managed to get my FP rewire poked threw and more recently inserted a 3/8 cable chase with 6 wires fed threw it. Now I need to get my WB harness fed threw the grommet as well. This time I really need to remove the grommet, slice and notch a hole large enough to house the...

    Thanks Iron Indian

After a few 12.7 runs TooMch heard a thumping noise when he turned to returned to the pit area. Iron Indian daignosed the problem and then spent a lot of time securing the CV boot. It was hot dirty work that neither TooMch nor I had ever done. Once the job was complete, he rode around with Rick...

    Stock Throttle Body O.D.?

What is the outside diameter of the stock throttle body? I need to order a silicone elbow, as I'm going to replace my Wizaired duct, but am unsure if what size to get. IIRC it's less than 4" but greater than 3.5".:th_nervous:

One of our own on the HPTuners home page

HPTuners.com >> Performance At Your Fingertips Sure it's old news, but Tim King's V6 Firebird the featured vehicle this month. For those that don't know Tim is one of the good guys, and really know his stuff. I watched him install my LSD at a mod day in Indianapolis. Man could he change one...

Why LTFT, when STFT should be quicker

After installing my IC and dropping from a 3.25 to a 2.8 pulley, I've been looking at the tuning aspect more closely. I've seen the write-ups where tuning requires many long drives while trying to get the LTFT as close to zero as possible. Then someone suggests using STFT+LTFT which allows a...

Trimming Gen 5 gaskets for IC install

I looked at a gen 5 gasket laying on top of a garlock trimmed for an IC install. Wht I don't get, and something Dave (Trannyman) mentioned, is how much farther forward the gen 5 outlet is compared to a gen 3. When installing a Gen 5 gasket on a gen 3 IC install, what do you do about the large...

    IC hose fittings?

Since I'm going to do some custom work on my IC install, WHERE do you find those barbed hose fittings? 90* 3/4 to 3/4 elbows, 1" to 3/4" reducer...etc. I couldn't find any at Lowes. Also, those using clear hose, are you using that reinforced stuff from Home Depot that is rated at 150 psi @...

    Monitoring IC temps

What type of device/setup would be inexpensive, but more importantly reliable? Brian's Fast IAT got me wondering about this. Since you would want something small so as not to mess with the flow, it seems to me you could use a small thermister in the coolant flow, and use it's variable...

    RotorPros

Anyone familiar with this company or their rotors? I need front rotors and are considering going with them. They have a set of 4 for my car in either just slotted for $180 or slotted and dimpled for $160 shipped. If I don't go with them I'll either go with Autozones 2 year warranty front only...

    Headlight capsule adjuster screw

We have new used capsules and one of them is missing the adjuster screw. Is it possible to remove the screw from the old capsule and install on the new? Never mind. The big gray thumb screw looking thing is a plug with an oring. I assume this is a vent of some sort.:th_shakinghead1::o

    Sooty spark plug, only one

Ever since I got my XP, I've noticed the #3 spark plug threads are black along the full lenght of the threads. None or the other plugs are like that. It baffles me how exhaust soot could completely cover the spark plug threads that should be in the threaded part of the heads. Any ideas?

    Caliper pin bolt

I've had trouble figuring out if only the rear brake calipers have the two different caliper pin bolts (ones you grease). One of the bolts has a bushing on the tip and the other one does not. I know the bolt with the bushing goes in the top postion, but do the front and rear calipers both have...

    Add-on hydrogen power

I know nothing about using hydrogen to power an automobile. While doing research on Ethos I stumbled across Hydrogen Boost .Can this possibliy work? I understand hydrogen power is a long term goal for US energy conservation. However, can a $1000 kit boost power and fuel economy?
