    % of oil on GP DIC

    I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT. On my DIC, oil life is by percentage. How is this value computed. Is it based on actual Viscosity, mileage driven or time since the last oil change. The new oils are designed to hold their viscosity much longer. Can any one tell me how this % is determined?
