    engine revs when putting into gear

    hi have a friend with a 97 grand prix around 200k mi nice car everything perfect the other day she said this happend twice through the day... put car in reverse, engine revved as if she hit the gas... several hours later did the same thing putting in forward gear. ever heard of that before???

    loud lifter noise any ideas?
