to anybody looking into an aeroforce gauge this should be of interest average interceptor gauges used are still in the 150-200 dollar range and for all of it's features its remarkable a must have some would say for running any sort of modded or boosted car from checking sensors to data mapping to KR gauages to checking codes and removing ses light. That said I couldn't afford one so I started looking into a KR gauge in itself trying to save money but still monitor some of the need to know non displayed information. The market was pretty shabby. Finally my savior Torque Pro for android tablets and phones the app itself is 5 dollars and all that is needed is a obd2 to bluetooth adapter found here

the attachment itself can be configured to work with the android app or with a computer that has a bluetooth adapter and with either you can literally monitor everything, set alarms, and use different display models dsmuts made a very informative post on setup and initial use of the program. Also available is the feature to link your torque pro android to a laptop via wifi and run a data map u can later take home.

Hope this helps anybody looking into an aeroforce gauge or a more advanced obd2 scanner to monitor ses lights and look into or extinguish codes such as the rear o2 sensor for passing emmisions without a cat only available for some models of GP im afraid

I've been using torque and one of those adapters for over a year. I do prefer torque and if the adapter dies I'll just buy another for $19 on eBay.

Oh yeah, I remember those days. It was junk constant force closes. I have it installed on my original Droid and it attaches to my windshield dock for it.

direct obd2 to usb are available if wireless hardware scares you it can be wired into a laptop for all scanning and extinguishing uses but the knock retard and other gauges would be less useful how ever if ur gonna go wired you could mount a small android tablet into the car and hide the wire and its still 100 bucks cheaper with a touchscreen

Many older devices do not support USB host.

Wifi requires root.

BT is the only option for most stock android phones.

What I'm curious about is the update speed when logging say, 1/2/4/6 parameters.

Namely because the aero, when it worked, updated a few times per second. When I had one of these adapaters I used it with other vehicles and only found an acceptable update/refresh rate when scanning one parameter. Since then I've sold my adapter, the PLX kiwi BT.

Also using this would nuke your phones battery and require sticking it in the mount and connecting to the OBD adapater etc etc etc.

PITA compared to aero which is on as soon as the car is.

But then the aero does not adjust brightness, screen slows down in cold and even ceases to function until it warms up, same goes for in the heat.

Also the damn bezel sun faded in six months. My AEM WB has yet to show a single sign of sun fade and auto adjusts brightness based on light shining into its sensor.
 


people are gonna bash it cause it's a "cheap" way to scan your car. Everything has it's ups and downs and some people have more money to spend then others. If it works for its purpose then it works. There has been many updates to the program and it gets updated every other week when the programmers of the app figure out ways to make it better. KR wasnt an option for torque for a while until they updated it. Who care's about battery life, just keep it plugged in. Most people who use it with their every day cell phone are people who still text and drive so they arent gonna mount it in the dash. I used it for a day on my cell phone and everything worked fine. A tiny bit delayed but stil worked. I had results for each pirameter. Accuracy, not sure. I can't be sure on accuracy because i have nothing else to scan with. I have an iphone as my everyday phone and only activated my old droid to try the app and see if i would go back to it when i finally start modding.

Hope everyone up and coming that doesnt have a scan tool and a droid throws $5 down and gives it a shot. It may save you $150-$200.
 
I haven't used Torque and am wondering. Is there support for misfires, clearing and reading codes and doing a case learn?

Thanks for not addressing my most pressing concern: Update speed.

If you text and drive, you're a bad driver. Pay attention to the road.

With one of the newer updates I believe you can tweak settings for update. Its not a cheep replacement for an aeroforce just a temporary hold over for some.

I'm stuck between another PLX which was $150 all said and done, or a new screen for the aero which is probably going to end up around $80.
